Josuke’s never grown his nails long.

He doesn’t obsessively clip them, unlike some serial killers he could name that are thankfully now dead, but keeps them under control whenever he remembers that it’s been a while since he last cut them. Usually he’s reminded by a casual glance at his hands.

Occasionally, he’s reminded other ways.

He never intends to leave marks on Okuyasu, it just sort of happens. If Okuyasu’s the one on top that night, Josuke can’t help but cling to his back, and if his nails are longer than normal at the time, it leaves blaring red scratches on his skin. He doesn’t notice them then, being preoccupied with way more important things at the time like yeah, do that again.

Only after they’re both satisfied does Josuke untangle himself and notice the marks he’s left. He winces sympathetically. “Sorry.”

Okuyasu blinks at him, head tilted. “What’re you sorry for?” he asks.

“Scratching you. Must sting like hell, right? I didn’t mean to.” Josuke calls Crazy Diamond to the limited space left on the bed. He obviously has no issues with using his Stand while completely naked. “I’ll fix it, give me a sec.”

Okuyasu grumbles a, “‘ve had worse, don’t worry about it,” but lets Josuke heal the injury without arguing about it any further.

“I’ve got to clip these,” Josuke says to himself, looking at his nails. Okuyasu makes a sound of dissent that Josuke doesn’t notice.

Okuyasu’s nails aren’t long either. He makes up for it with bad judgment of his own strength.

Josuke doesn’t blame him. In the heat of the moment, with neither of them able to focus on anything besides do it again, do it harder, it’s natural to hold onto whatever’s nearby and grip it for dear life, even if that happens to be Josuke’s hips and even if his grip is tight enough to leave bruises.

When Okuyasu comes down from his high and notices the marks forming on Josuke’s skin, he swears under his breath. “I didn’t mean to do that.”

“Do what?” Josuke picks up on where Okuyasu’s staring and pokes one of his bruises, wincing only a little. “Nah, it’s fine. I’ll heal pretty quick.”

“Kinda wish you could use Crazy Diamond on yourself right now?" Okuyasu asks, sitting back on the bed.

“Not really. It hurts, but it’s kind of nice having something physical left over after. Even if I could fix it, I’d probably just leave it there to heal normally.” Josuke raises an eyebrow at the silent stare Okuyasu gives him. “...What?”

“How come you don’t let me say that and get out of havin’ your Stand heal me?” asks Okuyasu, crossing his arms and leaning into Josuke’s space. “How come, huh?”

Josuke sweats. “I didn’t think you would- it’s just different, okay?”

“It’s the same thing!” Okuyasu lightly whaps Josuke upside the head. This isn’t nearly hard enough to bruise, but it gets the message across.
