Minero’s young, and at that age where she insists she’s not (“I’m a hundred already!”) but knows in her heart that she and her friends have no experience compared to the likes of Uomi and Tatsumiya.

That’s fine with her. She’ll become old and mature one day, have a job, and look after the smaller ones, but now her days are spent searching for treasure and having fun. She can be an adult later.

Sometimes Tomoshibi and Rimorimo refuse to join her on her treasure hunts, staying put right inside their house. They never did this before. “Hey, why not? It’ll be fun, right? Right?”

“I don’t feel like it,” says Rimorimo. Tomoshibi just shakes her head softly.

Minero scowls and goes to find Creamil. She’s at the edge of the coral sea. “Creamil, Rimorimo and Tomoshibi won’t come play with usss,” she says, a whine in her voice. “I don’t want to do it alone!”

Creamil sighs. “You really have no idea why they’re staying inside, do you?”

“Why would anyone want to stay inside?” Minero asks.

Creamil points upwards, at the renewed Cast Pearl.

“...I don’t get it,” Minero says. “It’s always been there.”

“Idiot. It’s Wadanohara this time.” Creamil folds her arms. “Of course Rimorimo and Tomoshibi don’t want to see that.”

Minero hesitates. The significance of Wadanohara being the creator of this Cast Pearl is finally starting to sink into her brain.

“Maybe I’ll ask them again later,” she says. Creamil says nothing.

Creamil is young, though she insists that she’s “mature for her age”. She has a high opinion of her own intelligence, at least when compared to someone like Minero’s. That’s a low bar.

She wasn’t especially close to Wadanohara, she’s not nearly as wounded as Samekichi or Tatsumiya, but she feels her disappearance as keenly as anyone else in the sea does. The Cast Pearl, a constant reminder of her sacrifice, bothers her every time she steps outside her house or looks out the window.

A day after she explained the reason Rimorimo and Tomoshibi were staying inside to Minero, she sees Minero approach her at the edge of the coral sea again, this time with the other two in tow.

Surprised, she asks, “Why did you two come outside?”

“She convinced us,” says Rimorimo. Tomoshibi nods slightly.

Minero clears her throat like she’s about to give an important address. “The reason Wadanohara saved the sea is because she liked it, right? She liked every part of it, including us going treasure hunting all the time. If we change what we do just because we see the Cast Pearl, we’re being rude to her and her choice. So we should do what she always do, because she loved it that way, and she can watch us from the Pearl and be happy.”

“...That actually makes a bit of sense,” says Creamil. “Did someone write that for you?”

Minero scowls. “No! I came up with it myself!”

“I’m just joking. Where do you want to search for treasure today?”
