Easy Tiger
Title: Easy Tiger
Fandom: Bungou Stray Dogs
Character(s): Atsushi, Dazai
Pairing(s): Dazai/Atsushi
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 500
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Summary: Atsushi and Dazai on physical contact, their relationship, and their abilities.
Notes: Sometimes... you just want plotless fluff.
The tiger doesn’t distinguish between injuries taken in battle and wounds inflicted in bed.
Scratches left down Atsushi’s back will heal at the first possible moment, and bruises on his neck will disappear long before he has to go to work the next day. In some ways, Atsushi’s grateful for that: he doesn’t need his coworkers teasing him about his sex life, and he’d die of humiliation if he couldn’t fight properly because he was too sore from… nightly activities.
At the same time, though, he wishes he could keep those scratches and bruises a little longer. Having Dazai’s marks on him, having physical proof to show that Dazai thought he was worthy of spending his time on and was deserving of his affection in this way - he wouldn’t mind that at all, if only for a few hours afterward.
He’s too embarrassed to bring it up, but Dazai seems to know anyway. (Dazai knows almost everything without being told.) Even after they’re both exhausted and spent, Dazai makes sure he’s still touching Atsushi somewhere. As long as they’re in physical contact, No Longer Human will nullify Atsushi’s healing, and the marks Dazai left will remain. He delays pulling away from Atsushi until he absolutely has to, just to keep those scratches on his skin for a little while longer.
Or maybe Dazai is just naturally a cuddler, but that doesn’t seem right.
Whatever Dazai’s reasons for keeping him in his arms, Atsushi isn’t going to complain any time soon.
No Longer Human is as much a curse as it is a gift.
It protects Dazai from other abilities, good or bad, and his touch will nullify his allies’ abilities just as well as those of his enemies. He’s all too used to having his touch be avoided for that reason: no one in the mafia wants to be disarmed, and even in the detective agency his coworkers limit their contact, some without realizing they’re doing so. The detectives aren’t cruel people, just practical ones, and Dazai doesn’t blame them at all.
Atsushi is the exception. Even now that Atsushi can properly control the tiger and doesn’t need to turn to Dazai for help calming it down, he doesn’t flinch away from Dazai’s touch. He seeks out the contact, leans against Dazai when he doesn’t need the support, finds excuses to brush hands with him, and doesn’t for a moment show any fear that touching Dazai will be his undoing.
Dazai had ascribed it to Atsushi’s dislike of his own ability at first, but now that he has it under control, it must be because he trusts Dazai to keep him safe when he’s powerless.
What a strange, foolish, and incredibly endearing young man he is.
Dazai can hardly help it if he finds reasons to keep touching the only person who’s so willing to touch him in return. Of course he’ll always have to pull away in the end, but he knows Atsushi will follow after him every time.
