"I do not have a secret boyfriend!" She says it a little too loudly, and after getting some pitying looks lowers her voice. "Aoi, you know that when I finally go out with somebody you'll be the first person I tell, right?"

"It's not like I don't believe you, but…" Aoi taps her pencil against her chin. "You've been acting really weird lately, and you're always in the bathroom for a really long time, so…"

She can't explain what's actually happening, but all the excuses she can come up with are even more embarrassing than 'secret boyfriend', so… "How could you betray me like this."

Aoi giggles, and Nene sighs and storms off to… unfortunately, the bathroom, because she can't just not show up and leave Hanako by himself. Grumble grumble stupid rumors grumble grumble.

Her grumpiness must be easy to read on her face, because Hanako floats up to her right away and asks with genuine concern, "Are you okay?"

"I'm…" Well, she can't tell Hanako the actual reason she's upset. "It's not a big deal, don't worry about me."

"Of course I'll worry about you," he says, a little red-faced. "You're important to me."

This is… weirdly straightforward for Hanako. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's a lot different from his usual behavior where she can't tell if he's just teasing or actually likes her-

Hanako has a hand on her shoulder and soft eyes and Nene decides that this is a great time to be anywhere but here, actually.

"Kou, I need you to pretend to be my secret boyfriend before Hanako decides to kiss me."

Kou blinks a few times before asking, "Me?"

Sighing, Nene replies, "I can't ask Akane because nobody would ever actually believe he was dating anyone besides Aoi, and if I ask your brother he'll probably decide that the simpler way of making sure Hanako doesn't do anything weird is through lots of stabbing."

"…I mean, this time he's kind of not wrong…?"
