The thing about time is that it is passing, constantly, without permission.
How is Omori supposed to finish his quests when the sun sets and his body tires before he's through? There isn't even a boss to mark the end of a day, on the days where anything different happens at all. Nothing distinguishes important characters from NPCs you'll see in one scene and never again.
No wonder Sunny preferred to live in Headspace than in reality. For all its bright colors and overwhelming atmosphere, Headspace was better organized, with more sensible rules. Who would willingly choose this world instead?
