"Lots of people hurt the ones they love," Irisviel says, hands folded in her lap. "Eating them is a little unusual, but not fundamentally different, I think."

"I hadn't thought that a human would be able to understand my curse," Barghest says. "But… that valkyrie Brynhildr has a similar affliction, does she not?"

"Mm-hm. And she and Sigurd are able to be together thanks to his Guts. But you can remove that, so…" Irisviel thinks for a moment, then brightens up. "Oh! What about Invincibility? Even if you remove that, you still need a second attack to actually harm them, which gives them longer to get away or for you to get a hold of yourself."

It's sound logic, although it's still a little risky for Barghest's liking. "Finding someone with an Invincibility skill who isn't strong enough for me to want to eat them seems a difficult task."

"Well, there's me," Irisviel says matter-of-factly. "I like beautiful, knightly women."

Barghest feels her cheeks darken slightly. It's true that Irisviel isn't someone one would consider 'strong' in anything but character, and there's no denying that she's stunning in a way that Barghest can only envy. "Do you truly wish to risk my fangs?" she asks.

"It would be cruel to say so if I didn't. Let me kiss you?"

All she can do is nod.

Irisviel kisses like sweetness and light, like the holy vessel Barghest only sometimes remembers she is. She traces her hand over Barghest's red cheek, and when she pulls back, she smiles.

"Very cute," she says. "Would you be my sword, if I asked?"

She looks so lovely when she's happy that Barghest doesn't even think of saying no. "Of course, my lady."
