Notes: For Season of Kink, "phonesex/sexting". I wrote this both because there's no Ranpoe and because Ranpo needed to text like a douche.
The jingle chiming on Poe’s phone lets him know that he’s gotten a text. As he pulls his phone out of his pocket, he mentally goes over who could possibly be texting him. Not his publisher, they usually prefer emails. It’s probably something automated like his phone bill…
It’s Ranpo.

That winking emoticon instantly garners Poe’s distrust. At the same time - it’s Ranpo, so Poe can’t do anything but drop everything he’s doing to answer him.

This is not flattering, it’s just embarrassing. Poe should really lecture Ranpo about getting back to work for once in his life, or just take his phone and throw it in the trash can, then burn the trash.
Instead, he looks around, despite the fact that he’s in his own home with no chance of anyone else being in there without his notice.

I live in a house by myself and I rarely get visitors. I can wear pajamas however long I want to.

There’s a long, long pause, and Poe panics. Has he overstepped the unspoken bounds of this conversation? He and Ranpo aren’t really in a relationship, so maybe Ranpo was just messing with him?
He’s about to send an apology text when his phone buzzes again.
Don’t encourage him to slack off by sexting. -Kunikida
Oh. Okay. He wants to shrivel up and die now.

Poe tries to get back to concentrating on writing, mostly failing for the rest of the afternoon. Several hours later, he receives another text.
im off work + have my phone back

Poe’s glad Ranpo can’t see how red his face is right now. He can probably deduce it from how long it takes him to answer anyway, but there’s some comfort in him not actually seeing it.
