Summary: All things have a price, including friendship.
Notes:
In this world… no, in any world, there is nothing that does not have a price.
The price may not be traditional currency. But everything can be bargained for, if you have the right resources at hand. Everything is a product or a service with a value.
There's nothing wrong with that. Knowing the value of what you have and others want makes you a smart negotiator. Intangible things like 'information' or 'revenge' have worth like anything else.
Of course, friendship is no exception. Ideally, it is a joint venture that both parties benefit from. If each does not contribute an equal share, its value rapidly decreases.
"Were you successful today, Koyanskaya?" Muryan asks. "-Look at you, you're freezing! I told you to invest in thicker gloves if you were going to travel to the outskirts."
Koyanskaya sighs. "My mistake was not bringing the winter gear I already own to Britain. It's not worth buying spares to make up for my own foolishness."
Muryan clicks her tongue, then takes Koyanskaya's hand in hers. "Consider this a loan, in that case."
Koyanskaya startles for a moment before curling her fingers around Muryan's. "As always, it's a pleasure doing business with you."
