Notes:

Roman doesn't rest while Ritsuka is in a singularity, and Asclepius knows it's impossible to make him.

How could he rest while Ritsuka is in combat, or navigating the wilderness, or making battle strategies to try to hold out against overwhelming odds? Even if the most he can do is monitor their condition and surroundings, that could be the difference between life or death, falling to an ambush or being able to fight back. Roman subsists on coffee and two hours of sleep.

Asclepius has performed surgeries that lasted overnight, but not for days on end. Still, he can't truthfully say he would do any differently in Roman's position. So he doesn't complain, at least until Ritsuka is safely back in the Command Room once again.

"Good work out there, Ritsuka." The bags under Roman's eyes could hold a gallon of exhaustion, and Asclepius clicks his tongue. "First things first, let's give you a checkup - wah?!"

D rank strength is not much to speak of, but it still lets Asclepius scoop Roman up off his feet. "Ritsuka has gotten semi-regular sleep over the past week. You have not. You're not in any state to be doing examinations."

Bright red, Roman hides his face in Asclepius' shirt. "I'm fine! I'll rest after my work is done-"

"You'll rest now. Nightingale and I can provide the checkup while you sleep. Master, get the door for me."

Smiling, Ritsuka holds open the door. "Have a good night, Doctor."

Asclepius acknowledges them with a nod as he carries Roman to his room. His skin feels feverish: it must be worse than Asclepius thought.

After getting Roman to unlock his door, Asclepius brings him inside and carefully deposits Roman onto his bed. "Your temperature seems above average. It's not an immediate concern, but I'll have my familiar observe you in case your condition worsens abruptly."

Roman pulls the covers up to his chin. "I'm fine, really, you don't need to…"

"This is non-negotiable." Asclepius' snake settles on the corner of Roman's bed. "I shouldn't have to say this, but don't even think about getting out of bed until you've had eight hours of sleep."

"I know, I don't want to become one of your disobedient patient stories." Roman stifles a yawn. "…Thank you."

Ritsuka is fine, with only a few scrapes and bruises to their name. Asclepius instructs them on proper bandaging methods and goes to check on Roman.

His familiar hasn't alerted him to any changes, and seems content, so he can only presume Roman is doing well… Or, as he sees when he steps inside, Roman could have gravitated to the heat source in his bed and started hugging the snake in his sleep.

"…Get out from there. Frivolous physical contact with the patient can lead to a malpractice suit."

The snake opens one eye to look at him, then closes it again without moving.

He'll have to lecture his familiar about professional behavior later. That's surely the only cause of his annoyance.
