As often and with as much conviction as the movies and news tell stories of crazed killers, they say love redeems. He's in love, true love, so logically, he must be redeemed already. It's simple A equals B logic.
If he's not, then he has no reason to believe them in the first place on the other stuff about being a serial killer being a terrible thing. They can't keep their facts straight - Ryuunosuke won't be fooled by bad reporting in the media.
